The main compound behind cannabis's effects and the most-researched cannabinoid of all. The "THC %" on a label refers to this.
THC and CBD are
just the beginning.
The cannabis plant produces dozens of compounds called cannabinoids, each with its own character. Here is a plain-language guide to the ones you will see on our labels, and where to find them on our menu.
The most popular non-intoxicating cannabinoid and the most studied. It does not produce a high on its own.
The "mother cannabinoid" the plant builds the others from, and an emerging favourite in daytime products.
Forms naturally as THC ages, and the cannabinoid behind most nighttime product lines.
A non-intoxicating minor cannabinoid that works alongside THC and CBD, part of the "entourage effect".
A lighter, clear-headed cannabinoid nicknamed "diet weed", usually present in small amounts.
Common questions
The basics our budtenders get asked every day.
What's the difference between THC and CBD?
THC is the intoxicating cannabinoid that produces the "high". CBD is non-intoxicating and does not produce a high on its own. Many products combine the two in different ratios.
Will CBD get me high?
No. CBD is non-intoxicating. On its own it does not produce the high associated with THC.
What are "minor" cannabinoids like CBG, CBN and CBC?
They are compounds the cannabis plant makes in smaller amounts than THC and CBD. Each has its own character and is an active area of research. You will see them listed on some product labels.
What is CBN known for?
CBN forms naturally as THC ages, and it is the cannabinoid most associated with nighttime and "sleep" product lines.
How do I choose the right product?
Start with the THC and CBD content, the format, and the terpene profile. Our budtenders are always happy to walk you through the options and point you to what fits.
What is THC?
THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) is the main intoxicating compound in cannabis and the one most products are measured by. It is what produces the "high".
What is CBD?
CBD (cannabidiol) is the most common non-intoxicating cannabinoid. It does not produce a high on its own and shows up in many oils, capsules, edibles and topicals.
What is CBG?
CBG (cannabigerol) is a non-intoxicating cannabinoid often called the "mother cannabinoid", because the plant uses it to build THC, CBD and others. It is usually present in small amounts.
What is CBN?
CBN (cannabinol) is a mildly intoxicating cannabinoid that forms naturally as THC ages. It is the cannabinoid most associated with nighttime products.
What is CBC?
CBC (cannabichromene) is a non-intoxicating minor cannabinoid that occurs alongside THC and CBD as part of the plant's natural mix of compounds.
What is THCV?
THCV (tetrahydrocannabivarin) is a cannabinoid usually found in small amounts and nicknamed "diet weed". Its effect depends on the dose.
